USABILITY + PARTNERSHIP
How EMG Consulting, an early adopter of Noteable’s ABA Data Suite, leveraged Noteable’s intuitive software and next level partnership to improve internal system workflow, data collection consistency, and reporting efficiency — ultimately giving significant time back to their staff to focus on clients.
EMG Consulting
EMG Consulting, a Behavioral and Instructional ABA provider based in Virginia, has the mission to provide quality services, based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, directly to clients, families, and stakeholders. The Challenge
EMG Consulting embarked on their quest for a new EHR system driven by five critical challenges with their existing software: frequent crashes leading to unreliable performance, inconsistent and low-quality paper-based data collection, inefficiencies in monitoring client progress and conducting spot checks, excessive time spent on documentation and report generation, and scattered client information across multiple systems and platforms.
-
Frequent downtime in practice management software for ABA companies disrupts therapy sessions, delays care, and reduces productivity. It increases the risk of data loss, inconsistent documentation, and can negatively affect client progress tracking. Minimizing downtime is essential to maintaining smooth operations and providing quality care.
-
Inconsistent and poor-quality data collection can lead to inaccurate client records, making it hard to track progress and plan treatments. It also affects compliance and complicates reporting or audits, ultimately hindering the ability to provide reliable, evidence-based care.
-
A lack of ability to easily spot-check client progress makes it difficult to monitor treatment effectiveness in real-time. This can delay adjustments to care plans and reduce the ability to address issues promptly, impacting overall treatment outcomes.
-
Spending too much time on reporting reduces the time available for direct client care and other essential tasks. This inefficiency can lead to burnout among staff and delays in delivering timely services.
-
When information is scattered across multiple systems, it becomes difficult to access and manage client data efficiently. This fragmentation leads to increased errors, delays in decision-making, and wasted time searching for information.
The Noteable Difference
EMG transitioned to Noteable in November 2021, with the Noteable partner success team working closely with Elizabeth Matthews, Owner/Executive Director, and her team to ensure a smooth transition. They assisted in setting initial goals, designing reports, and configuring the software. Monique Stubbs, BCBA, quickly became a Noteable Power User, mastering the platform’s advanced configuration tools. The Noteable team also provided training on the data collection app, graphing, and reporting features, allowing EMG to begin entering client data within just a few weeks. Once reports were customized to EMG’s needs, Monique observed, “Time to complete reports has decreased significantly.”
After a year on the platform, Elizabeth praised Noteable as “a reliable system with customer support that ensures our needs are heard and met.” Since onboarding, EMG has written 360 individualized objectives, collected data for 50,000 trials, and successfully graphed and reported on over 2,000 client sessions. As a frequent user of the app, Felicia Shelton, BCBA, noted, “The data collection app is very user-friendly and allows us to collect and accurately record a variety of data.”
Regarding practice management, EMG has greatly enhanced its ability to monitor client progress. The tools in Noteable are more systematic and user-friendly compared to their previous systems. Noteable has streamlined their processes for completing and submitting treatment plans, managing client charts, automating graphing, and formalizing reporting—all in one place.

Moving Forward
A reliable product described by partners as “easy-to-use” has always been the cornerstone of Noteable’s first value pillar: “Usability.” EMG’s collaboration with Noteable has fostered candid conversations about what works well and offered valuable suggestions for the future on new feature options. These relationships are essential to Noteable’s second value pillar: “Partnership.” The team of experienced developers and behavioral health experts at Noteable understands that this is an ever-evolving field, and it is the focus on usability and partnership that sets their software apart. EMG’s willingness to provide both positive feedback and constructive criticism on items that would benefit their practice as well as enhance the experience of other providers that use the system as well is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
EMG has set goals to further enhance the report approval and signature capture process and expand automated graphing capabilities. Noteable is committed to continuing to offer next-level partnership to EMG, working together to meet their needs and goals through the software.
During their time with Noteable, EMG has received the support and tools needed to significantly improve internal workflows, data collection consistency and reporting efficiency, ultimately freeing up time for their team to place focus back on what matters the most, delivering outstanding client care.
